Mike the Magician: “A legend in his own lunch hour!” Angill Bringjoy & Bonnie Greenall come all the way from Kaitaia to bring wonderful stories…and our local hero Kid Dynamite NZs youngest street circus super star.

CIRCUSPACE in the Cafler Suites (All ages)

Balancing Act by Natalia

With the Whangarei Community Circus and Circus Kumarani

What are Circus skills?

Circus Skills, as well as for pure entertainment, have been used internationally as a unique way of developing skills and expertise and offers a wide range of opportunities that allow anyone to be able to find an area to excel.

Ever wanted to run away and join the Circus?

Here's your chance to do just that. During the Festival, Circuspace in the Cafler suites will be set up with equipment and trainers to encourage everyone to have a go. Try your hand at tightrope walking, Rolla Bolla balancing, Pedalo, acrobatics and juggling.

What are the benefits of juggling?

Studies indicate improvements in links between right and left brain hemisphere, improved motor skills etc. Learning a skill and performing to peers and public seems to improve self esteem and confidence, and interpersonal skills.

The festival is delighted to host and present Circuspace to the community as part of the programme.
(Note: This NOT a child-minding service & use of the equipment is conditional on adult supervision.)

Courtyard Entertainment and fun @ Forum North

Doorways from the Cafler Suites and Bounty Room lead to a wonderful outdoor courtyard. Weather permitting, the courtyard will be set up with children’s stalls selling wonderful wire bubble wands, and another selling poi’s and devil sticks. Children can have a go with this equipment, and a bouncy castle is being set up for younger children.

Whilst Children are encouraged to wonder through the courtyard, they need to be supervised by an adult at all times.

Sand painting

Tibetan monks Geshe Jamyang Sherab and Karma Gyaltsen will be painting auspicious symbols from fine grains of coloured sands. Whilst one of them is painting, the other will work with our children and give them a go at this ancient cultural art-form.

Bringwonder, Dallas the Whangarei Fairy, Kelly Belly Button, Drew the juggler and several other mysterious creatures will wonder the festival hallways and venues – delighting children and adults alike…
